Are You a Suitable Candidate for Dental Implants?
Date: October 10, 2011 Richard Jones

Dental implants are effective solutions to missing teeth, as these implants replace the form and function of teeth that have been permanently lost. However, not everyone who wants to replace missing teeth can be a suitable candidate for dental implants – and it is important to know the factors that are considered before dental implants placement can be planned.

Dental implants can successfully replace the missing teeth of individuals who have sufficient bone mass in the area where the missing tooth used to be. If there is insufficient bone mass in the area, the dental implants will not have a secure place to be anchored to. Individuals who are heavy smokers, or those who drink alcoholic beverages in excessive amounts, may also not be suitable candidates for dental implants – this is because the use of tobacco and the excessive intake of alcohol can impede the healing process for the implants. Patients who have problems with their immune systems (those who are undergoing radiation treatments, or who have auto-immune diseases) may also not be suitable candidates for dental implants.

Find a dentist or dental implants specialist in your area now, to determine if you are a suitable candidate for the placement of dental implants. The sooner you are cleared for the dental implants procedure, the quicker you can enjoy the replacements for your missing teeth.
