Sinus Lift Before the Placement of Dental Implants
Date: July 1, 2011 Richard Jones

A sinus lift or sinus augmentation procedure may need to be done before dental implants can be successfully placed; this procedure enables the jaw area to have sufficient bone mass so that it can successfully support the dental implants that will replace the form and function of missing teeth.

Any of these cases may need a sinus augmentation prior to the placement of dental implants: insufficient bone mass in the area where the implants will be placed, bone loss in a specific area due to gum disease, and when the shape/size of the patient’s sinus area makes it almost impossible for dental implants to successfully be placed.

The sinus lift procedure makes it possible for implants to be placed in cases that seem difficult for the placement of dental implants. With sinus augmentation, a person can enjoy the benefits of having dental implants that address the problems brought by missing teeth.
