I had a small composite filling in my upper right 6?? a week ago and have just developed a pain when chewing. It does not seem sensitive to hot/cold but if I bite down on any food it is very painful, it is just a shooting pain and then disappears again after I stop chewing with it. I have flossed, and a small chunk of filling stuff came off the next tooth (7?) but that has not done anything to help the pain? What could this be? Thanks in advance for help.
Sensitivity form recent fillings is very common. However if the tooth is painful to bite on with the onset after a week I would suggest that you have the dentist check to see that the bite is balanced. Also if the filling was very deep then it would be worth checking the nerve.
From what you say however it does not seem to be anything serious and probably the tooth will settle down.
