When a decayed or filled tooth has an abscess, the filling is removed to access the cavity.

Root canals will be reamed to remove tooth nerves.

The roots will be inserted with gutta-percha, which will then be sealed and cut off.

The tooth will be filled, and the abscess reduced.

A crown may be needed at a later time.
