Tetracycline Staining Problems

Tetracycline teeth stains are some of the most difficult stains to remove. Dental tetracycline  staining can prove to be tough even when treated with dental bleaching techniques, which is the reason why those who have tetracycline teeth stains sometimes just accept that the stains will stay with them forever – and just try not to show their teeth to others in the process.

This is Dentistry will give you the information you need to deal with tetracycline staining problems, so you can live a life that is free from bothersome tetracycline teeth stains. The comprehensive listing of dentists provided by This is Dentistry will bring you in contact with some of the most expert dentists in your local area, so you can schedule a consultation to deal with tetracycline teeth.

What Causes Tetracycline Teeth?

Tetracycline teeth stains are caused by the antibiotic tetracycline, which is also related to the antibiotics doxycycline and minocycline. Tetracycline teeth stains are severe discolorations that result when a person has been given antibiotic tetracycline medications as a child, or when tooth formation is in process for that specific individual. The antibiotic produces a blue-gray stain that is very difficult to remove.

Tetracycline staining problems can be prevented by avoiding the ingestion of tetracycline antibiotic medications; however, when there is no choice but to take the tetracycline to treat a specific medical condition, there is a huge possibility that that individual will develop tetracycline teeth stains in the long run.

Treatment of Tetracycline Teeth Stains

Ordinary teeth whitening or bleaching treatments may not be successful when trying to remove tetracycline teeth stains. You can spend months trying to improve the appearance of tetracycline teeth stains, but there is a chance that your teeth will not turn into the clean, white shade that you want to have. Tetracycline staining, especially the most severe cases, can be improved with porcelain veneers. Porcelain veneers are thin wafers made of porcelain which are bonded to the teeth to improve the overall teeth appearance.

You do not have to live with tetracycline teeth stains all your life – you can do something about it right now! Get in touch with a dentist in your local area so you can find out the best treatment procedure for your tetracycline teeth, and get ready to flash the most brilliant smiles of your life.

Mr R Baguley says:

I Have been told by my dentist that I have a leassion in the roof of my mouth it is white in colour. Can you please tell me the best treatment if any is required Thanks Mr R Baguley

A White lesion on the roof of the mouth could be a number of different things usually nothing to worry about here – I would ask your dentist to refer you to a oral medicine dept in a dental hospital and allow a registrar or consultant to see it and examine it – they may take a long history and a biopsy to work out the if any need for treatment thanks for your inquiry nnDr Avik Jonathan DandapatnBDS (Birm), MFGDP(UK) RCS (Eng),Dip.Implant.Dent RCS (Eng), Adv.Cert.Implant RCS (Eng)n
