London, UK (January 4, 2012) – This is Dentistry provides patients with comprehensive dentistry information and also connects them with expert UK dentists, who can address specific dental concerns.

Searching for a UK dentist has never been this easy with This is Dentistry’s easy search functionality and the ability to look at dentists’ profiles, view dentists approach to patients, skill sets, experiences, photos and videos. Users of This is Dentistry can “Get a Quote” from the dentist they are interested in, and can even send a question to a specific dentist or ask a question on an open forum or a specific dentist’s own forum.

A spokesperson for www.thisisDentistry.co.uk commented, “We believe that UK dentistry offers some of the highest standards in world for treatments such as Cosmetic Dentistry and Dental Implants, which is the reason why we firmly support the promotion of home-grown talent. UK Dentists are governed by the General Dental Council (GDC), and offer state-of-the-art technology, choice and quality patient care and support.

He continued to say, “Many Expert UK dentists (NHS and Private Dentists) have the skills, expertise and the technology to provide high-quality treatments that will ultimately give the patient peace of mind long after the treatment is complete. There is so much choice in the UK also in terms of affordability and pricing of dental treatments.

This is Dentistry offers all UK dentists the opportunity to have their, dental practice/s listed in a very clear eye catching manner, with their own web page profile, as well as the chance to submit their own videos and dental articles. This is Dentistry does its part through continual online marketing, with the aim of driving a larger volume of high quality, search term specific web traffic and as a result, more and more patients are using This is Dentistry.

Members of the public may simply be searching for answers to their dental problems or want a second opinion. This is Dentistry encourages dentists to engage in social networking as a media to connect more readily with patients, and provide expert advice, which may otherwise not be readily available. This way, dentists can effectively build a solid reputation, and gain the trust of members of the public.

Suffering from a toothache is one of the most uncomfortable experiences one can have. Severe pain from a toothache can make you immobilized – it is not unheard of to just want to curl up into a ball when the toothache hits you. Excruciating tooth pain can effectively be addressed by a dentist, but there are some ways you can do in the comfort of your own home to temporarily relieve the discomfort.

Are you suffering from a toothache, and would like to do something in the comfort of your home before you have the chance to go for a dental checkup? See the list below of some effective natural remedies you can do at home, to temporarily relieve the pain caused by toothache. However, the remedies below are not toothache solutions in themselves; the remedies given below should not replace professional dental attention – you will still need to go see your dentist to get the proper (and long-lasting) toothache dental treatment.

Gargling with warm water mixed with salt can effectively alleviate the pain from a toothache, and can also fight the infection that causes the pain inside the mouth.

Placing a garlic clove on the cavity of an aching tooth will provide immediate pain relief. You can also add a little rock salt to the garlic clove for additional healing and disinfecting power.

Applying a combination of table salt and pepper powder (about a pinch of each ingredient) to the aching tooth can ease the discomfort caused by the toothache.

Put a little clove oil onto the affected area of the tooth (and the gums surrounding the area) to relieve the pain and discomfort.

Chewing guava tree leaves (make sure they are clean first!) eases discomfort caused by a toothache.

A paste made from combining turmeric powder and mustard oil provides effective toothache cure; the turmeric and mustard oil combination has powerful antimicrobial properties that can fight harmful bacteria that causes the toothache.

An ice pack can be placed on the cheeks, directly on the area where the painful tooth is inside the mouth. The cold ice pack will provide relief from the toothache.

An ice cube can also be placed directly onto the aching tooth to temporarily relieve pain, by numbing the area.

A piece of onion placed directly on the affected tooth (or inside the cavity, if present) can alleviate the discomfort caused by a toothache. The onion’s anti-bacterial properties will effectively kill the germs that are causing the toothache.

A few drops of vanilla extract applied onto the painful tooth will provide temporarily relief from a toothache.

Do you have any experiences with using natural home remedies for relief from toothaches? Please LEAVE A REPLY below, and tell us how effective the remedies were for your aching tooth!

You may ask yourself, Will I benefit from a smile makeover? Read on to know more about how this cosmetic dentistry option can give you the results you have always wanted to achieve with regards to how you want your smile to look like.

A smile makeover is composed of a number of cosmetic dentistry procedures that all have the aim of improving the appearance of a person’s smile. Cosmetic dentistry procedures can address more than just the physical appearance of the smile; these procedures can also improve the function of the teeth and other smile aspects, so you can achieve a better overall dental health status.

A smile makeover can address numerous concerns regarding aspects of the smile that need to be improved. Two or more cosmetic dentistry treatments can be combined to address existing dentistry concerns.

Crooked or improperly aligned teeth can be addressed with orthodontics or Invisalign invisible braces, which will gently but efficiently move the teeth to a more properly aligned arrangement. Broken or chipped teeth can be improved with cosmetic bonding, porcelain veneers, or porcelain dental crowns. Teeth stains or discolourations that can cause a smile to become unattractive can be remedied with cosmetic dentistry teeth whitening, or even porcelain veneers, to achieve brighter and whiter teeth. Spaces and unsightly gaps between teeth can be improved with cosmetic dentistry porcelain veneers or even orthodontic treatments. A gummy smile can vastly be improved with laser gum re-shaping or contouring. Missing teeth problems can be remedied with dental implants, and unsightly facial lines around the mouth can be solved with dermal filler treatments.

A smile makeover can help you get the smile you have always dreamed of. Combining a number of cosmetic dentistry treatments can help you lead a better quality of life while giving you the confidence to flash great looking smiles all the time!

Going for regular dental checkups are necessary to achieve and maintain good oral health, which will in turn lead to fewer risks of the development of future dental problems. Regular dental checkups will enable a dentist to check the status of your dental health, and will also be able to let the dentist provide the appropriate prevention or treatment measures for possible dental problems; existing dental problems will also be treated and given no choice to worsen into more complicated dental concerns.

Finding a good dentist is an essential factor to one’s dental health; the right dentist can guide you to achieving optimum dental health, so that you can get to enjoy your smiles for a much longer period of time – and so you can stay as far away as possible from serious dental problems.

What makes a good dentist, and how do you find these dentists?

A good dentist should be one who has all the qualifications, trainings, and experience necessary to be able to provide the best dental health assistance to patients. A good dentist does not necessarily have to be the most expensive (or the one who charges the highest fees) – what is important is the dentist’s qualifications and eligibility to perform the most important (and the most basic) of dental health procedures.

A good dentist is also one who can speak freely and clearly with patients. As a patient, you should be able to ask all the questions you need about your dental health; a good dentist in turn will be able to clearly and thoroughly explain the dental treatment procedures that are necessary, as well as everything you need to know to achieve good dental health. You should be able to communicate freely with the dentist to get the information you need to have the great smiles that you need and deserve.

Comprehensive dental directories, such as the one provided by This is Dentistry, can help you in finding a good dentist for your specific needs. Finding a good dentist is crucial in your quest for the best dental health possible – and for you to enjoy a better quality of life while proudly sharing the best-looking smiles.

Are you looking for a good dentist? Have you found a dentist who can effectively deal with your dental concerns, and who can communicate freely with you? Please LEAVE A REPLY below, and share your experiences and comments with us!

When you have missing teeth, various aspects of your life can be affected in an adverse way; your physical, emotional and social well-being can easily be taken over in a negative way by the lack of teeth – especially if the missing teeth condition is not addressed in the soonest possible time.

The concept of dental implants being ideal missing teeth solutions have already been established, but the question remains – how exactly do dental implants improve your life?

Dental implants are effective replacements for both the form and function of teeth that have been lost, due to tooth decay, injuries, or various other reasons. The dental implant is embedded directly onto a patient’s jaw bone, and will be attached to a tooth restoration or tooth replacement (such as dental crowns or dental bridges). A person with missing teeth can do normal activities such as chewing, eating, or smiling once again when dental implants are used as teeth replacements.

Dental implants prevent the jaw bone from deteriorating. The jaw bone will eventually deteriorate and lose its natural shape or contours with the passage of time, after teeth have been lost. The use of dental implants can prevent bone deterioration so that the jaw bone retains its normal structure, preventing an unattractive appearance and possible complications that may be caused by the deterioration of the bone.

Those who have missing teeth can look forward to flashing great looking smiles once again, with the help of dental implants. As the dental implants replace the form and function of missing teeth, the missing teeth patient can once again have normal-looking teeth (replacements) that will enable him or her to normally eat, smile, speak, and chew without experiencing any difficulties. This dental problem can cause a lot of pain and discomfort, and can even lead to more complications if not treated or diagnosed in its earliest stages.

What can you do with an aching jaw problem?

The first step towards freedom from an aching jaw problem is to get much needed help from a dentist. The dentist will be able to provide the proper diagnosis, and find the underlying cause of the jaw ache problem; proper diagnosis is important to be able to get the appropriate dental treatment for the relief of an aching jaw condition. An aching jaw problem can be caused by misaligned teeth (which can lead a person to clench or grind the teeth in an unconscious manner), temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ), stress, or jaw joint degeneration (connected with rheumatoid arthritis). It is important to determine the underlying cause for the jaw ache problem, so that the proper treatment can be obtained.

Relaxation and stretching exercises may be recommended for the relief of aching jaw problems. These exercises will be beneficial especially in cases when stress causes the patient to have an aching jaw; the proper management of stress can also be done through counseling, which can give tips on how to manage stressful situations without wreaking havoc on how the jaw works.

Medications can also be recommened by the dentist to relieve the pain and discomfort brought about by an aching jaw problem. These medications may be available over the counter, or through prescriptions; the medications can also be used in combination with relaxation exercises or other aching jaw treatment options to provide better comfort for the patient.

A mouth guard or bite splint may be given by the dentist to address teeth clenching or teeth grinding problems. These mouth guards ensure that the upper and lower teeth do not have direct contact with one another, so that the teeth surfaces are not ground together. The pressure that comes from constant and excessive teeth grinding can cause a lot of aching jaw discomfort.

Are you suffering from aching jaw problems? Are you looking for ways to alleviate the discomfort of an aching jaw? Please LEAVE A REPLY below, and share your experiences and comments with us!

The prevention of gum disease is important in ensuring that one’s dental health is kept at an optimum level – and also to ensure that more serious gum and dental problems can be kept as far away from the patient as possible. Gum disease can cause a host of serious dental and health complications, and should be prevented in the most effective ways possible.

A new study published in the Journal of Periodontology shows that there is a link between the weight of a person, and his or her ability to prevent gum diseases from even starting, or from further worsening.

A new study conducted by researchers from the Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine show that people who are slimmer have a better chance of preventing gum diseases, compared to obese individuals (or those who have excess body weight). The study shows that slimmer individuals have fewer fat cells in their body; these fat cells can trigger the inflammatory response of the body, which can in turn lead to gum disease problems.

The research was conducted involving 31 individuals who are obese or are overweight, and are currently suffering from gum disease. Half of the total number of participants or volunteers underwent gastric bypass surgery to reduce the number of fat cells in their body. The group of participants who underwent the surgical procedure and decreased the number of fat cells in their body turned out to have better chances in fighting gum disease problems, compared to the other half of the research group who still had excessive weight – and have more fat cells in their bodies.

Now, there is more reason to lead a healthier lifestyle and to eat balanced meals to make sure that proper weight management is achiever or maintained. The excess weight on one’s body, along with the increased number of fat cells, can actually contribute to how well the body can fight gum disease – and how the overall dental health of the person can turn out to be. Maintaining the proper weight will ensure that one will get to enjoy better looking smiles for a longer period of time – and will be able to fight gum disease in a more efficient way.

A dry mouth condition can lead to a host of other dental problems, other than the feeling of being dehydrated and a parched throat. If left undiagnosed or untreated, a dry mouth problem can lead to more serious dental or health concerns, which can do a lot of adverse effects in the long run. A dry mouth problem needs to be treated in the soonest possible time, before more complications arise and cause more problems for the patient.

There are a number of factors that lead to a dry mouth condition. Certain medications and drugs cause a decrease in the production of saliva which can lead to dry mouth symptoms; in cases when medications cause the dry mouth problem – it may be possible for the dosage of these medications to be adjusted, to decrease or even eliminate the parched mouth symptoms. A number of medical treatments, such as chemotherapy or radiation, are also known to cause dry mouth problems in patients.

The dry mouth problems and symptoms can also be a side effect of certain medical conditions, such as: diabetes, anaemia, Parkinson’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, hypertension, cystic fibrosis, mumps, or Alzheimer’s disease. Nerve damage caused by injuries to the head or facial areas can also lead to the patient suffering from dry mouth problems.

So, how do you deal with dry mouth problems?

Keeping yourself hydrated will go a long way in reducing the adverse effects of a dry mouth condition. Drinking lots of water will keep the oral cavity and the throat moist, alleviating the discomfort of a dry mouth; the water will also help in cleansing the oral cavity free of any food debris. Chewing on sugar-free gum, or even sucking on sugar-free candies can encourage improved production of saliva, so that the mouth is kept well-hydrated; these can also help with keeping the breath fresh. A dry mouth can be prevented by breathing through the nose, so that the mouth will not be dried out. Vaporizers or room humidifiers can also be used to help keep the mouth hydrated, and to avoid suffering unnecessarily from dry mouth symptoms.

Dental implants are great replacements for missing teeth, as the implants replace both the form and function of the teeth that have been lost. The placement of dental implants will be done using a surgical procedure, as the implants will need to be embedded directly onto the jaw bone; these implants will then serve as the replacement for the tooth root, and will be where the tooth restorations (such as dental crowns, or dental bridges) will be attached to.

As with all surgical procedures, a lot of people may ask – is the dental implants placement painful? Or will there be a lot of discomfort involved during the placement of the dental implants?

The advances in dentistry make it possible for the dental implants placement – even if it is a surgical procedure – to be virtually painless. This is possible with the help of an anaesthetic, which will be used to numb the area where the dental implants will be placed before the actual dental implants procedure. The anaesthetic will ensure that the patient will not feel any pain as the dental implants are embedded directly onto the jaw bone; the patient will also not feel anything even when parts of the gum are cut, to gain access to the jaw bone underneath – mainly due to the numbing powers of the anaesthetic.

The discomfort or anxiety of a nervous patient can also be lessened with the help of conscious sedation. Prior to the actual dental implants placement, conscious sedation –which will be administered intravenously – will help place the patient in a calm, relaxed state of mind. Conscious sedation makes it possible for a patient to go through the entire dental implant procedure in a completely calm state of mind.

Patients who need to address missing teeth concerns with the help of dental implants need not worry about the procedure being painful, because the dentist will make sure that the anaesthetic will do its magic in numbing the affected area – before the actual procedure can begin. A person can then begin to look forward to having great missing teeth replacements with the placement of dental implants – without worrying about the pain and discomfort that the entire procedure can bring.
