In a few years’ time, the waiting period that is involved in the preparation of dental implants casts can be cut dramatically, thanks to a 3D printing technology. The technology is developed and presently being made more viable by a team of Iranian engineers.
A report that is published in the International Journal of Rapid Manufacturing stated that this technology utilizes a 3D image to control and manage a laser; this laser in turn cures liquid or powdered polymer to form increasingly complex shapes. Although this technology is still considered to be a few years away from being cost-effective and viable, it is expected to revolutionize the future of prosthetic and cosmetic dentistry.
The breakthroughs made with the 3D technology in cutting the time for dental implants cast preparation may still be a few years away, but the benefits will be worth the wait. This is especially true for patients who will get to enjoy a shorter period of time before getting to enjoy the benefits of dental implants.
